IADDA's Dr. C. Vincent Bakeman Memorial Award Dr. C. Vincent Bakeman was a pioneer and visionary in the field of substance abuse prevention and treatment. He envisioned a society where addiction prevention and treatment services would be available to all people. His tireless efforts to communicate this vision to those in the field, members of the community, and policy makers, made possible the significant advancements in substance abuse services over the last two decades in Illinois and around the country. Dr. Bakeman was never satisfied with the status quo, constantly encouraging those around him to go the extra mile. According to the Illinois Alcoholism and Drug Dependence Association (IADDA), the award named in Dr. Bakeman's honor is a celebration of the tireless work done by our leaders in the field of substance abuse services. Awardees are dedicated to speaking up for prevention and treatment, have a clear vision for the future of the field, consistently communicate their vision, and are tireless leaders dedicated to the advancement of substance abuse prevention and treatment. Past recipients of the Dr. C. Vincent Bakeman Memorial Award are U.S. Congressman Danny K. Davis (IL-7), TASC President Melody Heaps, South East Alcohol and Drug Abuse Center Executive Director Greg Zyvert, Haymarket Center Vice President Anthony A. Cole, and TASC Director of Community Partnerships George Williams.
