CARBONDALE

Light of Recovery -- Candlelight Vigil

Where: Campus of SIU-Carbondale on the steps of Shyrock Auditorium
Description: This vigil is to honor those we have lost to addiction, the hope of recovery, and the future on
building community resiliency.

CHICAGO

Outside the Walls: A Free Day of Family Unity and Community Reconciliation

When: Saturday, September 8, 2007, 10 AM - 6 PM
Where: Douglas Park (Odgen and California), Chicago
Description: Music, food, inspiration, gifts, and resources, featuring gospel entertainment and invited guest speakers. Presented by the Winners' Circle.

AIDS Walk

When: Saturday, September 15, 2007, Registration begins at 8:00 AM and closes at 9:50 AM
Where: Grant Park -- Columbus and Balbo, Chicago
Description: This 5K walk/run raises funds for HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and advocacy projects through the AIDS Foundation of Chicago. On-site registration is $25.

TASC's Health Services Unit serves individuals affected by HIV/AIDS, and staff members participate in the AIDS Walk each year.

2007 TASC Leadership Award Luncheon and Raffle Drawing

When: Wednesday, September 19, 2007, 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM
Where: Hotel InterContinental, 505 N. Michigan Avenue, Chicago
Description: This is a fundraising event that honors leaders whose work has supported TASC's mission. Tickets are $125.

Recovery Walk

When: Saturday, September 22, 2007. Meet between 8 and 9 AM; walk begins at approximately 9 AM.
Where: Meet at Union Park (Ashland and Lake), Chicago
Description: This is a walk to raise attention to the need for treatment organized by the office of Congressman Danny K. Davis and the City of Chicago, Department of Public Health.

Rally 'Round Recovery

When: Saturday, September 8, 2007, 10 AM - 2:15 PM
Where: Bicentennial Park, 201 W. Jefferson St., Joliet
Description: Celebration of recovery, with guest speakers. Entertainment (5 music and dance acts) and a variety of activities for adults and young people. Community organization resource fair (including TASC table), and ending with an open 12-step meeting.

Recovery Walk: Join the Voices for Recovery

When: Saturday, September 15, 2007 9:00 AM -- Noon
Where: Illinois Centre Mall, Marion
Description: The Third Annual Recovery Month Walk will begin and end at Centre Court of the Illinois Centre Mall. Walk with your family & friends and enjoy a day of fun, exercise, and the opportunity to raise awareness of the benefits of treatment and prevention. Youth and adults who support prevention and treatment and/or who are in recovery are encouraged to walk.

When: Saturday, September 15, 2007 Registration begins at 7:30 AM; event is 9:00 AM -- 2:00 PM
Where: Kickoff at Illinois State Capitol; destination Lincoln Park
Description: Celebrating recovery every day -- changing lives along the way! Join us for music, food, and fun as we celebrate recovery.

ST. LOUIS

Hands Across the Bridge

When: Saturday, September 15, 2007 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Where: The Chain of Rocks Bridge, St. Louis, MO
Description: This bi-state (IL-MO) celebration starts at 5 PM on the Missouri side of the Chain of Rocks Bridge. There will be free food, music, and speakers. At dusk, people will join hands and stretch as far as possible toward the Illinois side of the bridge. Each person will then hold a lit candle, bringing light to the celebration of recovery.
